Part-Time Chief Executive Officer – Luma Foundation

Salary: Full-time equivalent £45,000
About the Role
Luma Foundation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee and drive the operations of our charity. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives on making an impact while shaping the future direction of the organisation.
You will be responsible for setting and delivering the charity’s strategy, ensuring its long-term sustainability, and championing our mission to fund essential medical equipment for Yorkshire’s hospitals when it cannot be provided through NHS sources. This state-of-the-art equipment also has the potential to revolutionise training for hundreds of aspiring surgeons in Leeds.
As CEO, you will work closely with the Board of Trustees, leading the organisation day-to-day, securing funding, building partnerships, and ensuring our operations meet the highest standards of governance, compliance, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Governance
- Take ultimate responsibility for the charity’s day-to-day management, ensuring smooth and effective operations.
- Lead the overall strategic direction and vision of the charity in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
- Report regularly to the Board on progress, financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure the charity operates in full compliance with UK charity law, safeguarding policies, and best governance practices.
- Develop and implement long-term plans for growth, fundraising diversification, and organisational sustainability.
Fundraising
- Build and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy.
- Plan and deliver high-value fundraising events e.g. clay shooting days, sports competitions, charity balls.
- Develop relationships with major donors and corporate partners.
- Leverage networks to secure sponsorships, partnerships, and auction prizes.
Marketing & Communications
- Act as the primary ambassador and spokesperson for the charity, representing us to media, partners, and the public.
- Lead impactful marketing campaigns to raise awareness of our work and mission.
- Ensure the charity’s digital presence (website, social media, fundraising platforms) is engaging, professional, and up to date.
- Share the charity’s impact through compelling case studies.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, beneficiaries, donors and corporate sponsors.
- Represent the charity at networking events, meetings, and public engagements.
Who We Are Looking For
We need a motivated, organised, and passionate individual with a deep understanding of the charity sector. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven leadership experience within the charity or non-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK charity governance, regulation, and compliance.
- A track record of delivering significant fundraising success, ideally through large-scale events and corporate partnerships.
- Exceptional relationship-building, influencing, and public speaking abilities.
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media, and online fundraising tools.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently.
